Westport — Not many people know how to reach the alpha level of consciousness, but according the the local metaphysics guru, learning can bring health, wealth and success.

Rebecca Cushing had found a second career teaching the Silva UltraMind system program, a two-day seminar designed to help people change their lives for the better.

By learning to develop cognitive clarity and inner intuition — or ESP — Cushing said she's seen people leave the course with a whole new perspective on how to enhance their lives and careers.

"We all have this gift," said Cushing. "It's all about getting rid of anxiety and going within." The Silva UltraMind system was created by the late Jose Silva, a Mexican American Metaphysician. Previously called Silva Mind Control in the 1960's. Cushing said that by learning to find the alpha consciousness — a state that occurs prior to sleep — he was able to teach his children to be better students.

Silva then taught others to discover this state of mind, and wrote books about the life altering phenomenon.

Cushing described being in the alpha consciousness as feeling relaxed, focused and creative. It offers the ability to solve problems, discover inner strength, and find the one thing in life that truly makes a person happy.
Only 10 percent of the population finds this state naturally, but it can be taught, according to Cushing.

"You learn how to get in touch with your higher self," she said. "Now they're working the job they love. Relationships get healed.

"Some have even been able to heal themselves," she said.

Cushing, years ago, was studying to be a school teacher, a career she found was not suited to her. But while in Chicago, she met a man who taught her to visualize what she wanted and how this simple task could help her make her dreams come true.

"As, it worked. I got it and it blew my mind," said Cushing. "It set me on my path."

After this learning experience, Cushing spent 35 years working as a flight attendant for United Airlines — her dream job. And, she set about studying. As she traveled the world, Cushing learned more about meditation, telepathy, visualization, and self-healing.

"I've been teaching it for two years, "said Cushing, now retired from the airline industry. "I wanted to do something in metaphysics."

Since she's been passing on these teachings, Cushing said: "I haven't heard a negative thing about it."

"They learn techniques that allow them to find what their purpose is," she said. "Whatever we do should make us happy. When we're helping the planet (using our natural talents) it brings us joy."

Cushing holds about two seminars a month throughout the country. She said the course is 100 percent guaranteed.
